holy shit guys….i found it….

despite my initial “oh no isaac’s talking a lot” he’s mostly evened out to just talking about objectives when they pop up, so i’ve grown Okay with his chatter. but that aside, i’ve honestly been loving it. unsurprising bc dead space is my re4, and i consider it one of the best games ever made, but the slight changes they’ve made to the level design making the ship whole (again) feel mostly very smartly done, the boss fights are much improved, almost every puzzle is improved, and even as a ds1 anti-gravity defender i gotta say i love how incredibly disorientating the free floating anti-grav sections feel now. i haven’t beaten it yet, been mostly taking it in little chunks, but it really does just feel like the original - but better - in a way that not even the re4 remake got right imo.
the biggest change for me is one im not even sure is a real change rather than just me playing the game differently as a 30 yo vs a 13 yo. i used to only use the plasma cutter, sometimes the plasma rifle if i wanted to make things harder on myself. but this time im using basically every weapon on rotation (except plasma rifle) and having a blast with all of them. ripper, my beloved. upgrade trees are much improved and upgrade nodes much (much) more prevalent, so i think that helps a lot with experimentation.
my only problem is it’s making me want remakes of 2 and 3, which i never got around to playing, but it seems like EA didn’t actually plan for that (but are at least open to the idea) and so we might getting them way down the line. which sucks, but it only sucks bc i’m enjoying the remake so much and want more, funny how that works.
i know it’s hard to see but that graffiti says “hey it’s ok to be fucked up” and that’s the funniest shit i’ve ever seen.
