i love these guys. they're made of vulcanised rubber which often surprises people because they're so hard, more like ceramic or stone in feel.
they were commonplace beer bottle stoppers from the 1870s through the first half of the 20th century and you often find them bearing the name or logo of long-gone small breweries. the leftmost one says 'war grade' because rubber shortages during WWII meant lower quality vulcanite – and less of it, hence the concave middle.
