- never falter hero girl / katie dey
UHH HELLO? FUCKING ALBUM OF THE YEAR RIGHT HERE FOLKS, SHE'S DONE IT AGAIN!!! bigger and bolder and louder than ever; massive, intricate, stunning, iconic, legendary, eternal, gasping, visceral, bracingly alive, completely and absolutely brilliant; makes me want to be the best girl in the world, makes me realize it was in me all along.
hey, this lil album art is all tiny and cute but you know nvhg's cover (by jemi gale) is way big and beautiful, right? Well, u can click any of the album titles to link over to the bandcamp page and make the picture bigger! You can even buy them there too! i don't wanna talk too hard abt bandcamp ok but it still works so 🤷 lol)
Anyway, there were a bunch more other great sounds I heard this year so scroll on !
since it's 10 years since the first Mom release, and i haven't heard all of her discog, i decided to go through all of devi mccallion's music. her debut as Mom really surprised me for how consistent it is with later releases as Girls Rituals. the subject matter, vocals, and production feel of a piece with music she would be making six years down the line, which is rare for an artist as prolific as mccallion. this record also shows off her vulnerability and direct lyricism, which really makes the cut Super Deformed on here hit like a truck.
