BIO:
Living around volcanic flows worldwide,Spaulstilk feed on the cooling magma and obsidian at the edges of volcanic islands. Curiously, their elongated claws allow them to walk on top of the surface of the lava without burning, meaning that if under threat of any other kaiju, they'll simply run towards a volcano and stay there until the threat gives up.
Spaulstilk also lay their eggs inside of volcanoes, the eggs and their claws being made up of the same material. Current analysis says that their claws are made of obsidian with a connective polymer lattice, but figuring out how exactly to manufacture this material is unknown. Despite cries against harvesting the material from their claws, many companies in regions with Spaulstilk have begun using instant machines to harvest shavings from the kaiju. It seems that the main use for this material will be for deep ground mining, but concrete reasons as to why this material is selling for such a high price is unknown.
