here's my intro post! stylo (she/her), I'm a 30something east coast trans dyke of color (Tamil). things I do:

✊🏾💻 by day I'm a professional computer toucher for a labor union.

🎮 I used to be in the speedrunning/Twitch scene, playing Halo and F-Zero GX. I helped found HaloRuns. My favorite recent game is Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy. 👩🏾‍💻 I'm also learning gamedev - Unity on and off, want to learn Unreal 5 eventually. ✍🏾️ I've had writing about video games published on Polygon (maybe other places in a bit, stay tuned!).

I love music and decided in early 2021 to be a musician. 🎸 I've been playing guitar going on two years, and been learning jazz almost a year (progress has been slow 😵‍💫 but improving)

My favorite guitarists are Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Jimmy Smith, and Marc Ribot. Much respect also to Lenny Breau, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Julian Lage, George Benson et al.

Love saxophonists too (I played alto and tenor in school). Coltrane is my all-time favorite, Josh Redman is my recent fav. I might pick up alto again someday! Other instruments i want to learn are jazz piano (enough to comp standards) and drums (to work on my time). 🎷🎹🥁

🗣️ I sang all through school, favorite singers too many to count... Chet Baker, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington... I have a lot of exposure to Carnatic singing through my family and it informs my taste in melodies. 🌏 I also listened to hip hop for years and used to have a college radio show about hip hop. 📻
