I had a dream last night where an ff14 player rented a private jet to advertise their in-game venue/crypto scam, which was somehow the least interesting part of the dream. It got weird
There were party games and one of them was looking at a bunch of unrelated shapes on a wall and trying to figure out what they were. Soneone stepped all the way back and went "oh it's Cuppi Cube from Chowder" and they were right and I went "oh yeah, Cuppi Cube, I remember that episode." Cuppi Cube was a 20ft eukaryotic cell that didn't have any speaking lines, it was just there in the background of one episode, but the camera always zoomed out to show the same image from the same angle whenever it was on screen. I was mad at myself for not recognizing it
The plane itself was basically a poorly-rendered VRChat world - it had the same "bunch of text next to each other in a square on a wall" menus as it and also there was z-fighting in the text. I rememebr being impressed they managed to get readable text with FFXIV'S housing system, then realizing I was in-game and getting extremely confused why i'd bought plane tickets. I still dont remember what the plane was for.
FF14 Twitter was having a meltdown over itself because someone'd recorded the calls theyd had trying to get refunds from the airline agent and they'd somehow connected to the same agent three times who was having an exceptionally bad time. They sounded like 40 and had a little bit of a lisp and they were just. Bawling the entire time. "Do you know how stressful this is? My husband had to fly down to support me, I'm on antidepressants now - my son hasn't had a wink of sleep over this." that sort of thing. Just genuinely distraught. So FFXIV twitter was laughing at the poor guy, and then screaming at itself for laughing at a poor customer service rep, and then posting about how they were seeing more people complaining about the people laughing than they were seeing people laughing.
Oh also the private jet was for some reason tax-free? And to get in you had to get your picture taken at the door by something called "Reny" which I think was the owner's... wife? Program? It was this purple disc mounted to the wall in a little glass insert/screeen thing. I thought it was an LLM and I was told "no", but wasnt given elaboration. So it would take the picture and I think the owner wanted to use it to train a model but people just kept holding up pictures of Goku instead.
I found out that it was for a "go meet this person!" socialization-forcer. Youd talk to Reny and itd go "okay, for your task, find this person and chat!"
And every single time, it would show a picture of Goku Goku. A different photo of Goku every time. Chaos
I don't know what the dream machine was doing.
Man, time sure flies. A year ago today, I was sitting in-game watching my two mains get married. I had such a good time taking wedding photos. I was actually going to take some new photos (maybe honeymoon style ones?) for their anniversary, and then I just happened to completely forget that it was today until I saw it pop up on my calendar, lmao. Whoops!
