listening to the way FFXIV youtubers complain about certain jobs being boring to play, it feels like they're asking for a game that requires every player to constantly be solving 3 rubiks cubes simultaneously at all times while also having to do the raid mechanics.

This guy I'm listening to is complaining about the damage being removed from the DRK movement ability and I do not understand why that's such an issue. When movement abilities do damage, it means the optimal damage rotation requires using them on cooldown.1 Removing the damage means you are free to save it and use it whenever you actually need to move fast.

"But now we deal less damage"

No? No you don't!!! When they "remove" the damage from an ability like this they shift it on other actions. Besides, I'm gonna need you to think in abstract terms for a minute, the literal damage numbers your buttons do individually doesn't truly matter that much. What matters is that the job's overall damage over the course of a fight is balanced with other jobs and is sufficient to meet the DPS check. If you perform your rotation above the minimum required by the developers and you respect raid mechanics, you will clear. Because that is how the game is designed. The numbers are arbitrary. If for some wacky reasons the developers one day decided to lower every single number in the game by the same proportional amounts, it would play exactly the same.

  1. imo performing the perfect optimal damage rotation is not nearly as important as guide youtubers make it out to be. Raids are balanced to be possible to clear with some margin for error, even on week one when everyone's gear is at its minimum. The best way to meet the DPS check is and has always been not dying to raid mechanics.
