While I actually rather like the idea of the WoL being semi-retired and a mentor figure now, apparently a lot of people hate it because it does kind of push us off to the side

But I just saw an article that I don't fully agree with bring up some interesting points

Part of the reason we are a mentor figure now is because we're too strong. There aren't really any threats left that would actually be threatening to us. So we're mentoring new heroes to be able to deal with things that would be threats to them. I like that, especially since holy crap people rely on us quite heavily, but...

To restore the ability for there to be actual narrative threats to the WoL, perhaps the next expac could start with a TotK or Metroid style weakening of the WoL? Something goes wrong and we become dramatically weaker?

They could integrate this with a potential fix for the whole "level cap >100" issue too and the new progression systems. Once you start 8.0, your level is set to 1*, down from 100, and you keep that star to indicate that you are technically past level 100

I feel like I've seen the proposal for a star + level reset before too
