So I've been going to training mode and actually trying to figure this game out for once. Every time I tried in the past I would usually flail for a bit, think the game was just "not for me" and moved on, but this time I'm serious!

Figuring out the strict input buffer, cancels, movement and especially the eccentricities like the strange recoverable health, round structure, pursuits, dark force and dumb inputs (why must Tenraiha be input the way it is) with aid of basic guides, tournament footage and Vampire Savior's own Mizuumi page.

And I gotta say, becoming a fan! While I haven't really stepped into the ring (yet) I've figured a few things out:

  1. Combos are really short, often routing into hard knockdowns quickly while meter is saved for some of the wackier options on offense or neutral.
  2. Very scrappy and scrambly, weird hits usually putting both players in strange places they have to react to quickly, and even on defense between guard cancels, wake up rolls and an... inconsistent pushblock as (near) universal options, it can get a bit strange.
  3. Hsien-Ko has been speaking to my aesthetic sensibilities since I was a wee babby and I'm glad she's also my favorite character to play. Her airdash and movement with the Chain, item throw projectile, command grab and big strange buttons are exactly my kinda thing!

Anyways, looking to try out online via Fightcade, wanna see if I can get decent at this game at least cause I really do love how it looks and - THEORETICALLY - it's right up my alley.

So I've played quite a few matches between the last post and this one and I gotta say...
Vampire Savior? Pretty good I'd say.
Still need to play it a whole bunch more to sort out in my head how much I love it, but this game feels great and is kinda right up my alley in many ways!

Hsien-Ko is in fact the favorite, starting to get a much better grasp of what I should be doing in neutral, offense, defense etc. I'm even pulling off Tenraiha more or less on command (sometimes I fuck it up woops).

Right now I should probably familiarize myself better with the rest of the cast cause a Lilith player just kept sliding into me with plus buttons and my brain just did not know what to do about it or that she could even do that at all? I mean, I guess I knew not to get in that situation in the first place, but, like, I'm not exactly good enough for that so I gotta settle on getting out.

Anyways, just wanted to update this a bit cause I'm having a blast!
Also this is my first time using Fightcade and it's a fairly robust system all things considered, shame 90% of the players seem to be from across the ocean (damn the Americas)
