What happened to day 16? Family time~

Why no post on Day 15? Crazy stuff happened across the street in my neighborhood. The other side of the street is cursed. If you wish to know of these curses ask me sometime in person.

Aaaaanyways, I completed cohorts! It was pretty straight forward. For those counting at home an additional 980 words were added.

The one thing I need to figure out later is what to call a group cohort. In Blades in the Dark they call it a gang which I feel doesn't fit high fantasy. If you have any ideas let me know~

One thing I really like from Beam Saber was the additional material about mistreating cohorts. It made them feel real and not just a mechanical bonus that you can abuse. So I added it to the rules as well. Thanks, Austin!

Next up is engagement rules, to give me a little break from guilds, and then factions. Once factions are figured out the rest of the guild writing should fall into place since all the "currencies" will have been defined.



Where did day 11, 12, and 13 go? Family, friends and anime! (There is so much good anime this season! Feels like we are back in 2013~2014 again.)

I pretty much finished the upgrades tonight! There are a couple details to address later. For those counting at home that is another 621 words for a total of 1908 words.

I went with general upgrades for now. It reduces my heartburn for this whole upgrade process and as stated other times the difference between each crew's upgrade choices wasn't really different enough.

Next up for me is Cohorts which shouldn't be too bad and then engagement before taking on factions. Factions are the next big thing I've been low key stressing about. But that's for another time~

Sockgoblins We recently released Sockgoblins, a dungeon crawl in a goblin-sized trench coat. You play as a crew of Sockgoblins tasked with finding socks to fill the Queen’s Sock Tithe. You can learn the rules over lunch and be playing that night. Sockgoblins is also available in PDF and printable form here

Today I looked over more upgrades from Blades in the Dark and other forged in the dark games aaaaaand they are all pretty similar. The thing that really is meh to me is that special crew upgrades are very similar between each crew, some harnessing, Elite XXXX cohort, and some kind of +1 stress or trauma mostly. (I think the crews that only get +1 stress vs an extra trauma got the short stick btw.)

So I'm wondering now are people cool with this kind of choices for upgrades? Should I just make a giant list of upgrades and no special crew upgrades?

I'm surprised that upgrades are harder process for me compared to special abilities. I'm guessing it is due to my dissatisfaction with the selections that have proceeded.

I could take the easy path and just do what everyone else did. But, I'm not sure yet. For the sake of time I may just do so initially and come back around to it... Play testing should help with that decision making.
