This is the South Carolina block by Carol Doak, 12" size.

This one has a lot of mistakes. I started it the day I knew Kaylee wasn't going to be here much longer, and sewed it as I could for distraction in the days after. I wasn't in my most precise headspace, and this block is a record of that. The back has some interfaced seam allowances to try to save some that got too short, more interfacing where I accidentally cut into the block while trimming seams, and the front has a patch on it already from a mis-aligned piece. (It'll crinkle up in the wash, so I'm not worried that my patch isn't straight!)

I plan to embroider her name somewhere with this one-- either on the backing, or maybe along one of the star arms on the top side. I'm not sure yet. But I do want to mark this one as special.

Solids are Kona Cotton, batik is Anthology Lava Batiks in Moonstone.

I'm making a lap quilt to use up the rest of my batting. It will take 17 stars, 6x12" blocks and 11x6" blocks. I'm starting with the big blocks to get used to her patterns.

Squaring these up is not going to be fun-- there's little room for error at the star points-- but I think I can probably fudge it all together at the end.

Here's my finished Round block from Patchwork Labs: Gemology! Fabric is from the Kona solids Waterfall palette.

I was able to get most of the seam intersections to line up, so I'm pretty happy. Attaching all those collars to their necklines on previous sewing projects has paid off!

Foundation Paper Piecing is fun enough-- I think I'll try a few more blocks out in this book before I head back into clothes. I'll figure out what to do with these blocks later.

Seeing if I like Foundation Paper Piecing as a quilting method, which is Cut the Paper Templates 1st instead of Cut the Fabric Pieces 1st.

My Brother laser printer handles the cheap tracing paper I'm using for templates quite well. (It handles Tomoe River 52gsm, so I had a feeling this would be fine.)

This is part of a gemstone block from Patchwork Lab: Gemology by Andrea Tsang Jackson. Going to doing a whole round block, then see if I feel like making more or sewing a shirt (yet another Itch to Stitch Bonn blouse).
