in the words of my wife it is weird to watch a movie and immediately understand why it got buried. 

i know exactly why disney didn’t market this movie at all. they will literally never make a movie like this ever again. that this even got released is bizarre.

i literally cannot believe i’m about to type this but that movie is gay degrowth propaganda. if you’re gay and you live on the back of a giant turtle and you believe we need to stop lithium mining literally immediately then this is the movie for you. 

what the fuck. like okay yeah this was a solid 3 and a half for a bit, typical family/parenting type DAS beat with some cool creature designs and really great colors and then suddenly the last half hour kicks in and it fires on every fucking cylinder in a way that very obviously resulted in disney deciding to release it in theaters for exactly 2 weeks and never mention its existence to anyone ever again because what the fuck do you mean a movie that ends like that is one a major studio put out in the year of our luigi 2022. 

it has some pacing issues. it’s a tight 107 that honestly would have benefitted from being expanded to 120, shockingly enough. it’s got great acting from some phenomenal voice talent including known FBI impersonator Jaboukie Young-White as the first “Disney’s first gay character” that feels genuinely exciting (other than like, Amity Blight, but that’s a special case). 

i’m upset at how much the Diazo thing made me feel shit by the way. i didn’t want y’all to earn that, but god damn it DAS you made me giggle. i’m upset. 

i’m upset!! i’m upset at how genuinely good this is! i’m upset that this movie’s politics are so fucking spectacular and i’m upset that no one is ever going to see this because it got dropkicked out the window during the feigning days of Chapek’s power because it does shit that probably made the board of directors Very Upset. i’m upset that we finally get a spiritual successor to Atlantis The Lost Empire that whips complete ass and is animated this fucking well and that Disney just does what it does to every single animated adventure movie it’s ever made and kick it to the fucking curb.

man!!! that movie was great!!!! how the fuck did that get made!!!!!!!!!
