My first gathering in quite a while since RenFaire last year. (I caught the rona at renfaire XD, that'll teach me for going outside!) and first furry gathering since TFF2020
Any who. It was a pretty swell time. I had wonderful room mates. Bought some stuff, saw some old and new faces. Bought some merch, ate some delightful food.
I wasn't going to go until it hit me. It's been 3 years since I've seen most people and if I waited another year, it would have been 4 years. I just need to go.. and so I did.
Still run into the same problems I had previous years of tff. It's just too darn big. Amenities are limited and holy cheese are things getting extra expensive now. Not only room and board, but also parking, registration, food. It's still cheaper to drive 4 hours than fly somewhere but that gap is quickly narrowing.
That being said it was good to get out. I need to get over my mild agoraphobia and leave the house more. 2020-2022 didn't help things and my WFH status doesn't really help.
People call me crazy for wanting an option to go to an office, but it was literally the only thing that made me go outside other than food. I get very uncomfortable leaving my home. It's true. When I was a kid I was called "osito" which means "Bear Cub" .. because I would never leave my cave. It's cute, but not exactly a good thing lol.
My next big trip is to Las Vegas to go see some millennial rap/hip hop/R&B groups and to do general wandering around the strip. I hope it goes well. Originally I was considering going to Final Fantasy 14 Fanfest however the effort to go and my waning interest of the game made me decide otherwise. I really want to go to a video game and VGM centered gathering at some point. I think that's my goal for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024.
