I am annoyed by the trend in both Witch of Mercury and IBO of designating Gundams as a very specific class of machine with specific underlying technologies that make them, definitionally, Gundams. I much prefer the Universal Century thing where a Gundam is just a robot named a Gundam and they usually have a V fin and Gundam Face but otherwise dont actually have to be special. Sure they often are top of the line or experimental machines but in series like Thunderbolt we see "gundams" that are just other preexisting mechs with a Gundam face that get named that for propaganda purposes, or the 08th MS Team ground types which while quite capable are far from special compared to the mechs they face off against in that series.
This isn't really a mark against either Mercury or IBO as shows, just a minor annoyance at a direction the franchise seems to be moving.
