Tsukino Usagi
position: shooting guard

skills: Usagi's not really one to get super physical in the paint, but she's really quick & nimble on her feet & I think she could could bait a defender into committing & then pull off a quick stepback pretty reliably. she'd be playing iso ball on the perimeter, which is in the vein of James Harden, but unlike Harden (career 36% from 3) she has elite sharpshooting skills from Moon Tiara Action (Steph Curry level easily) & won't rely as much on points from fouls (though I think she can sell contact as well as anyone). does she always have that dawg in her? maybe not, & relying on her down the stretch in tight games could be risky but I think the spacing she creates & the ability to knock down 3s is worth it

Artoria "Saber" Pendragon
position: point guard

skills: this one should be pretty self-explanatory but Artoria is a threat on many levels & could be an MVP contender. fast, strategic, & strong, she could excel equally as well as a facilitator making reads on the fly or driving to the basket & creating pressure at any range. need to see her in the pick & roll with Embiid. I think she would average 26/5/11 on 60% FG shooting while being a very unselfish floor general & keeping opposing defenses on the back foor the whole time.

Suletta Mercury
positon: 6th man, shooting guard/small forward

skills: there will be a lot of concerns about Suletta's anxiety & seeming lack of hustle off the court, but when she gets in I think she'll prove the haters wrong pretty quickly. she's not afraid to get physical when it gets down to it, & when someone needs her to step up she will not quit til her body can't move any more. she probably will need to build chemistry with her teammates to be considered for big minutes, but as an intuitive shot creator who has a great defensive focus, she'll be able to exploit mismatches on opposing benches, or even re-energize the starters she's playing with through unexpected hustle plays. I wouldn't expect a monster stat line, but I think she makes an impact when she's in & could easily find a starting role in a season or two if cap concerns make it impossible to keep the full roster

one of the things i like best about g witch is how dedicated to demonstrating scale it is. when you're doing a giant robot show, i think it's really easy to fall into the trap of separating giant robot scale things from human scale things. my favorite entries in the genre always make the effort to show how small, soft, fragile, humans, buildings, even vehicles are compared to these giant bodies we've created to rule over ourselves.

g witch has made certain to demonstrate that contrast pretty much every episode so far--the classic way, in the prologue with the tiny mechanics clustered around this giant figure, in the first episode as suletta is almost crushed by fallen mech parts amidst a duel on her first day, in episode 2 where the front management company mechs (what the fuck are the Fronts, by the way??) are pointing their outsized rifles at two diminutive teenage girls, even in episode 3 where miorine is using the mobile craft to brute force those girls out of fucking up suletta's duel. best, most harrowing example though is obviously in episode 4: a formation of giant, grim riot suppression mechs, enforcing space capitalist principles on peacefully protesting earth citizens by firing giant smoke grenades at them and advancing heedless of vehicles and other obstacles, crushing everything in their path.

this is obviously not something only g witch does; a lot of the best gundam and mech fiction in general does (i haven't forgotten f91 and the mech machine gun shells falling on civilians) but it makes me really happy to see g witch continue to use that staple of the genre effectively
