as promised, here's gwitch's very own adorable little monster! i built the more-normally-proportioned version...some amount of time ago, which means i have the novel experience of getting to do a direct comparison. results are in: for what they are, they're both pretty damn good!

the high grade's pre-molded shell units are pretty hard to beat, and obviously the articulation is going to be better on an HG than an SD, but honestly that CS frame is doing some pretty solid work at getting this little guy looking its suletta sunday best. and, it should also be noted, the SDCS version lets you pick from unpowered, gay rainbow permet, AND shadow the hedgehog red permet stickers right from the get-go; unless you shill out for the inexplicably p-bandai exclusive variant, the high grade only lets you do unpowered and rainbow. i went with the red permet on my SD since i used the rainbow ones on my HG, and i felt like mixin' it up since i had the freedom to do so.

as for the painting: i'd planned on doing metallic black tamiya spray on the red and yellow parts (i did semi-gloss black on their HG equivalents), only to realize once i got home that i didn't actually have any black paint in my possession anymore. so they got a probably-equally-pretty coat of deep metallic blue instead. the eyes got a hefty dose of EX holographic green marker with a slit pupil carved in and panel lined purely for the fun of it. calibarn can be a little bit of a dragon. as a treat.
