i ordered a bunch of shit from Suruga-ya on their free shipping promo, which was like 90% Turn A and WFM doujin that I can't read but will nonetheless enjoy looking at, plus a real nice Turn A character design artbook and the Hakumei & Mikochi world guide

something I cannot for the life of me remember about gwitch is when they call Suletta a "country bumpkin" in the subtitles, are the characters actually saying ็”ฐ่ˆŽ่€… (inakamono)? I cannot get the silly image out of my head that Mercury in that universe looks like the japanese countryside, except it's all gray.

I think the whole dichotomy of city folk and ็”ฐ่ˆŽ they have over there is kinda interesting, I don't think this happens in brazil or the US, in the US a lot of people don't like the countryside or the south, here it's just where you travel to see family if you have some that live there but it's nothing special or ever remarked upon. I keep also flashing back to Tim Roger's review of Boku no Natsuyasumi ใผใใฎใชใคใ‚„ใ™ใฟ and he dedicates a decent amount of time talking about the japanese summer with several anecdotes and fun stories and the one that stuck with me is when he explains how people in Tokyo are when it's summer and how inaka people are, he says when it's summer in the city people stop greeting each other with "hello" and just start saying ๆš‘ใ„ and ๆš‘ใ„ใงใ™ใญ (it's hot isn't it?) all the time in a rushed or lightly complaining tone, but when it's summer someone from the countryside will say ใ‚ใƒผๆš‘ใ„ใงใ™ใญ (imagine the tone shift is "ah.. it sure is hot today isn't it?~) and he says "that's all you need to know right there"

I dunno that whole thing about city people picking on the "country bumpkin" yet they're kinda jealous of them because they have family and connections to a pretty part of that country, the city people yearn for a deeper connection with nature and shit. like there's even a whole subgenre of anime about just saying "look at how fucking pretty the japanese countryside is compared to the city". this post got away from me but imagine the rolling gray hills of mercury with the ocasional solar storm or whatever they have over there, that'd be a funny photoshop to do to me and probably nobody else.
