back at it again with the high grades. this guy is the grunt suit version of guel jeturk's dilanza, which means it has a muted "combat-ready" color scheme, no ostentatious head crest, and is, y'know, actually put out there to kill people. the beams (on both the rifle and, though not pictured, the beam torch) got a coat of trans-am holo red marker because i am who i am, but other than that it was just me and my trusty black panel liner for this one.

ah, gwitch kits, how i've missed you! a delightful little build through and through, totaling a bit under four hours from box to final pose. even on a design this chunky, it still manages to be pretty well articulated, too, which is neat! my one major complaint is that i wish that warm grey plastic was a bit less greenish, since it clashes more with the purple-black side of the palette than i would've liked—if i could've set up my spraypaint booth (which i can't during the summer; my AC unit takes priority here), i probably would've hit it with a cooler grey instead. maybe light gunmetal?

still, i'm happy with what i got. the real sadness comes from the fact that with this guy done, the only gwitch kits i still want to build at this point are all p-bandai exclusives...or worse, discontinued p-bandai exclusives. one day i'll have you, lfrith anavata...one day...!!

I started building Suletta in earnest late last week. Cutting the pieces from the runners went very well; the plastics used in this kit feel wonderful, more pliable than Fumina's did. Started sanding and assembly a couple days ago. It's gone smoothly so far, save for the orange Haro (not shown). I had ignored my experience with dark pieces and cement on my previous kit and... used cement. It didn't look right. Pried the pieces apart, breaking one peg each on Haro's flaps in the process, scraped off the dried cement, and started over. Haro's currently sitting off to the side waiting for panel line refinement.

As for the rest, so far, so good (knock on wood). I don't think I've had to refer to a kit's color guide as much as I have this one. Suletta's shoes need grey details, and I will be (or have started) painting some of the larger gold and black bits on her uniform, the pink in her open mouths, her hair, and some other odds and ends. Did you know that Suletta's hairband is not black, but a very, very dark shade of blue? I couldn't believe it when I saw this in the color guide, so I dug out one of my G-Witch artbooks to double check and yep, it is indeed a very dark blue. Anyway, I'm currently trying to mix the perfect gold and red-orange; pretty much nailed the grey on my first attempt.

Once some additional work is done, I'm going to experiment with something new, but more about that later!
