Hey y'all, two of our journalists at the Asheville Blade are appealing their absurd convictions for covering a police crackdown on a houseless camp on Christmas 2021. This has, from the start, been intended to basically declare leftist journalism illegal. If the convictions stand, there are devastating implications for radical press around the country.

While our journalists are being represented pro bono, they're still being charged for court transcripts to appeal, because the American justice system ain't just. Those charges are now way more than we, or the civil liberties orgs helping us out, were initially told. The lead attorney's set up this fundraiser to make up the gap.

A lot's going on in the world right now, but if you're doing well or feel like you're in a place to, support is appreciated.

To deliberately subchost something that just happened on discord. I'm kind of upset that it has to be clarified that there's nothing wholesome about using an image generator to puppet the likeness of a deceased icon, no matter how cutely you do so. You could in fact create the exact images by hand and it would be fine because they'd come from a place of respect and admiration for the subject and theme, but an algorithm can hold none of those sentiments. An algorithm can only use your good intentions as a strainer to process stolen art into a highly consumable Product™️.

Furthermore and more frustrating AI art is not the same thing as a racial slur where you can just claim your artist friend gave you a pass to post this one because you should have the fucking common sense to understand that anyone encouraging you to post that slop is an idiot who'll get you in trouble. You know the exact same thing you should recognize if anyone claims to give you a "pass" to say a slur.

i think i might actually color up all my shit this time but ill have to see how i actually feel about it when i get closer to the end of this project cause i feel like theres going to be a fuckton more art already given that my cast is like twice the size and this game might end up being significantly longer than hopeless junction

i think tho that just using overlays and throwing shadows on my drawing and coloring the outlines can pretty quickly get pretty nice looking results. i kinda hate making clean lineart i get so bored but if i leave the cgs a bit more sketchy and have clean(er) sprites that might be a good angle for me.

ive written a good 20k words so far and its probs a third of the story so things are proceeding fine. i was going to release this for yurijam but i probably wont and will just let this project be something i work on in my own pace

because this story has shit like super powers and people trying to kill each other so trying to write combat sequences in a visual novel is definitely something new to me. i have these elaborate ideas in my head from reading too much shounen but its just entirely different to try and get those to work in this format. so ive been aiming more towards encounters that just happen and end in an instant which does suit the power level of my characters

it is pretty exciting to try and draw/write more combat oriented things tho cause battle maid sexy and im a huge nerd
