What Excites Me About Heart Heist
In which I gush about what excited me about making Heart Heist and why I think you'll enjoy it.
Part 4: Heists are Reusable!
Something I was elated to discover during playtesting is that heists are basically infinitely replayable, even with the same group of friends! Two major factors facilitate this:
1: Heart Heist simulates the sort of heist where the thieves already have all the intel and use it to formulate a plan. Because the players are already meant to have generally as much information as possible upfront, the heist can't really be "spoiled" for them by having played it before. It isn't anything they didn't already know!
2: The patron's dating preferences are randomized each game. So even if you play the same heist more than once, it is unlikely your group will have the same game plan twice in a row. Players will look for the approach that gives them the most opportunity to appeal to their beloved monster's tastes. It's kinda like replaying a level of Hit Man (another inspiration for this game) - you'll want to try a different method each time.
Of course, other factors will alter their plans and priorities too - what their stats are, what their allies/rivals stats are, how many thieves are in the group, etc.
If you're the sort of GM who'd like to create your own heists, I can tell you from experience that it feels great to know that all that effort you put into crafting a fun heist can be used more than once. And if you're the sort of GM who prefers premade modules over prepping a detailed heist yourself, the replay value of heists also means you're sure to get your money's worth!
Heart Heist soft-launches via zine this Halloween!
For just $5, the zine includes a ready-to-play example heist you can use again and again! Follow me on itch.io to be notified upon release!
In addition to updated rules based on zine feedback and alternate monstrous patrons for thieves to compete to date (each with different effects on the game), the full version (release date TBD) will include another example heist! If the full release does well, you can expect expansions with even more alternate patrons and example heists.
