TEW IX, the new pro wrestling company simulator game in the Total Extreme Wrestling series, is out now and... the only "modernization" of the game (i think it's made in Visual Basic (???) and i cannot resize the windows STILL because every widow is a BMP) is using generative AI to make shitty portraits of characters.
It makes the game feel even cheaper than it already felt. And while the cheapness before had some sorta interesting results, the cheapness now is because someone fell for a fad. You got suckered by the marketing. You saw the "i don't have to pay an artist" machine, ignored literally all the negatives, and pushed on through.
And like... this game has a fan base dying to get recognition from the developers of the game. There are people who have been making 3d renders in their forums, for free, for years. They've even been doing it in such a way that tries to mimic the freeware aesthetics of the game! There's this whole group of people begging for approval that would have done this work. Instead, you decided to go with a fad already on the downturn. It's like if you started doing NFTs now, in 2024. Complete and total misreading of the moment.
Idk. Feels really bad lol.
