The strongest argument I've ever heard against universal healthcare is "People are dying in line waiting for medical treatment in Canada" Ok sure but people are dying in the United States because they can't AFFORD healthcare here, and those who do choose to seek treatment, if they DO make it to the end of that line, they have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for the treatment they needed to SURVIVE.
"Oh but it'll raise taxes" In countries with free healthcare and free education, the citizens are more than happy to pay those taxes in exchange for the peace of mind. In this country, we'd rather our taxes be spent on our military.
Our military spending, by the way, lost between 31 and 60 BILLION during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars due to FRAUD. AND the Defense Logistics Agency just couldn't account for some 800 Million dollars in construction costs. AND the Pentagon can't account for 2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS IN ASSETS.
But God forbid we give our less fortunate citizens the help they need. We'd rather make homelessness illegal and casually throw away a couple trillion dollars on our military. Absolutely pathetic.
