shortly after getting off a call at work, i hear a thunk on the window above my desk. i (foolishly) assume a bird hit it from the outside, but no, the thunk came from inside the house. he's right fucking there, and the cat is very interested.
i have no idea how he got in. we have a few windows open, but they're screened, and i can't find any holes or gaps. so, he either snuck in through some tiny hole somewhere else, or flew in the front door last night unnoticed when we were taking out the trash.
he's trying to get out of the screen window by my desk. i try to remove the screen, but am too slow, and he hides before i can get it off. my wife takes the cat down to her office in the basement so he doesn't chase the bird. i close all the doors in the house to limit where he can be, turn off the ceiling fan, and open a few windows. i also go downstairs to make coffee in case my presence was scaring him.
sure enough, while i'm downstairs i hear some shit get knocked down upstairs. he can't find his way out of the open window upstairs, flies downstairs with me, fails to find his way out of the open back door, and flies right into the cabinet with all our glassware. i let him rest of a bit, remove some of the nicer glasses, and coax him out. he again fails to find his way out of either of the large open windows, despite flying near both of them, and then hides behind the fridge. i let him rest again, put all that glassware back, close that cabinet, and pull the fridge to scare him out again.
thankfully, this time he does find his way out, but it was a near run thin. he failed to notice the giant open sliding door to the back yard right in from of him, flew upstairs, explored the space a bit, and eventually found his way out the open window.
