This is the whole sheet of movable type I modeled. I was able to import the shapes of the letters themselves, but the block part of each piece I made by hand.
When making the font I had done research into kerning wood type. The amount of adjustment of the letter spacing that was possible in the technique. (I found this very interesting artical among others https://www.starshaped.com/weekendprinterblog/2018/1/27/lets-hear-it-for-the-kern )
I wanted the font to look even, but not to radically diverge from what was historically possible by a skilled printer. (In the end I found it wasn't a problem, because the kerning adjustments were all subtle, and historically achievable.)
I used all that research to make this. Id been looking at so many examples of wooden type that It was easy to imagine
