I joined Art Fight 2024 last week.
Not sure how many things I'll wind up drawing because I'm going solely by whatever character designs I come across that inspire me to draw it and... uh... nah, I'll be nice. Everyone has an idealized author insert or 2D romantic partner in their art pasts. Me too.
Banzai Bill: Inter-Dimensional Bounty Hunter. He had a transformer for a gun. His team were all of his friends with amazing abilities that looked exactly like whatever comics I was reading at the time.
It was the 1980s. I was 15.
I was also forty years ahead of the rest of you on the multiverse tip. I'm a visionary. Can't help it.
I got five Art Fight drawings in the art queue at the moment. Something to keep me busy this week while I wait for IRL stuff to happen. Boring paperwork type stuff that I can't do anything more about for a few weeks.
It sure beats making my own comics! Which I keep feeling like I'm wasting my time on given how far removed the tastes of the audience are from mine and that expected lack of audience makes it pretty difficult to rationalize the time and effort the comics medium demands.
If I ever win the lottery I'll hire some thirsty kids to do the chump work for me. I could be the 21st century Stan Lee! Claiming everyone's hard work as my own and making off with the lion's share of the cash.
I really should get back to doing illustrations though. It's been something like a year. I have a couple of ideas I'd like to try to make breathe.
