I'm not going to call my job a career because to me calling your job a career is the same as puffing your chest out and demanding people be in awe of you for being the best cog in the machine. Peddling English in East Asia has always been how I paid for the rest of my life.
And it has been good to me. It got me everything I wanted when I was younger.
Thing is...
Well...
This may be shocking...
A lot of the things I got I didn't actually want. I was basically trying to be normal. Do what others d, and doing it because it was expected that this is what you do. But once I got those things they were just not fulfilling in the slightest. Joy was not sparking. No I'm not going to specify what those things are.
I still do things because the rest of the world is. My social media presence is quite tiny. CoHost and Pillowfort. Yet everyone else is on social media and so am I. Without it you simply don't exist and I'd hate to vanish in a puff of unused hot takes.
Funny, eh?
Anyway, here's a Catbus I drew after buying some brush pens. Something my job peddling English got me that I actually did want.

You can't see it in these murky cellphone photos but this was a pretty nice piece of sycamore scavenged from another furniture maker's burn pile. Badly warped when I got it, flattened there was only about a 1/2" thick slice of wood there, but a single 18"x50" slab of quartersawn; I don't even wanna think about how old the original tree must have been. As a first try at the collapsing-leg quick-release system shown below, it was kinda eh as a table and has been supplanted by more developed examples, but the top was still a pretty nice piece of wood so I'm glad it found a second life here.
