We played finished our first playthrough of Undertale today.

I would imagine relatively few people had the same experience as we did, having played all of Deltarune's currently released chapters first.

Undertale really is a masterpiece, but I like Deltarune even better. Ralsei and Susie and Noelle are very compelling characters and I'm excited to see how their story progresses.

I'm leaving my adventures in East Asia behind me this summer because I caught an advanced case of Old and the physical deterioration of my spine is being matched by a similar mental deterioration.

I try my best to not be a dour old pill but the fact is my classes are damned boring and unfun because of my lack of energy and growing inability to let the kids be kids, and no amount of old man mugging is charming enough to get past that. I basically suck now and my boss is the only one who can't see it. So I have to be the big man and exit for the good of everyone else.

I don't want to be one of the shitty adults who turn kids into more shitty adults. There's too many of us as it is.

No job is unskilled, and if someone tells you teaching English in a for-profit situation (this includes universities and "international schools" BTW) to people who would rather be anywhere else is an unskilled job you have my permission to slap the stupid from their mouths. You have to mix the stress of customer service with the stress of having the the duty of care of a hundred or more kids/teens/adults per day.

It's a shame the industry itself never learnt this.

TL;DR- I now fully understand this man who entered my life for thirty seconds in 2007.
