thought i was going to start the year with mother 3 lol. also thought the graffiti in the 3rd pic said gex.

  • open world with freeform progression
  • enter small challenge levels that tend to be about one mechanic
  • black goo that kills you
  • said black goo is related to the main villain

this is breath of the wild. except the finale is sonic adventure 2. (so the finale is better).

time to focus on the multiplayer now.

reread done in sync with @rangedtouch's homestuck podcast. first read was sometime after undertale where i started to skim the text sometime in the middle. this time i actually read the chatlogs thanks to the podcast structure.

rate my modpack (pictured)

edit made after homestuck made this world finished homestuck: here's every time the phrase "bigshot" is mentioned in homestuck. also, did you know it never said the phrase "among us"?

thought it was better than gba, touched, and shake it/smooth moves (the only other ones i've played)

unreeeal superhero 3 still probably the best one of them all, but it's no robocop 3/alien

was one of the free games epic gives away. it's sick. basically a fps but:

  • you can bullet time at will on a bar
  • you can double jump, slide, wall run, and dive
    • while doing that, enemy bullets won't hit you AND you have infinite bullet time
  • environments are destructible, wall and floors included
  • you have an arm cannon that explodes holes in walls
  • killing enemies refills you bullet time meter and health
  • and when you run out of ammo you throw your gun

so basically you do a stunt, bullet time while stunting, and pop off any enemy you can. the campaign is basically a bunch of levels about getting to the end or killing everyone (with a good amount of unique objectives). accidentally deleted my save partway in the campaign so had to do the beginning again, but at least that let me get the achievements i missed.

i remember first hearing about this on one of the e3 shows where the dev talked about how an early access player found an unintended solution to a challenge. that stuck out to me as a pretty cool thing for a dev to do.

i also dipped into the arena challenges and rougelike modes. there's stuff in there that isn't in the campaign, and they seem more fun ("where the real game begins" and all that). there's also a level editor and Steam Workshop support, which I know because there is a Workshop category in the firefight mode even though i have the game from Epic and I don't know how to cross the streams, so to speak.

done to catch up with @rangedtouch's homestuck made this world.

i first read them when they came out. by which i mean i read the prologue and the beginning of meat, but started skimming by the end. didn't even start candy. so this time i started off with candy.

don't know how i feel yet

imagine i drew him as a troll

can i say i actually quite liked the epilogues and sequel? will admit that some characters really get shafted, either in terms of being characters or being saddled with real stupid shit. Definitely sometimes up its own ass too (but that's a neutral observation to me tbh).

1 was the levels from 2 ported to 3, which i only completed because you needed to beat them all to get to the 2nd thing, which is a level based enemy wave gauntlet compared to bloody palace dmc. i've got a little past floor -50

the throwback levels had no forced combat arenas and so were pretty much pure platforming, which i guess is a little interesting compared to the 2nd dlc, which is pure combat.

when games get extra dlc-like stuff for free we should call that FreeLC

baba with a stack of paper on his head

forgot about this little game that came out in january. this was cute. pretty cool that after making @BabaIsYou, @Hempuli went on to smaller projects instead of expanding.

the latest in garmentdistrict's bizzare horror-likes. much more experimental in the art direction this one is.

Only a little over a month in and I've already got some great things going for me.

First and foremost is getting the news early in January that my leukemia is in full remission. Great way to start the year!

Secondly, I've now been on two official dates with a girl I've been seeing for a couple weeks now, though we've been hanging out a lot beyond those. The dates were both amazing and things have been going wonderfully. I'm excited to see where things go.

Already this year is shaping up to be a much needed huge improvement over the extreme lows of my 2022. May it keep trending this way.

Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.
