This is a classic in the space sim genre. It takes its queues form the Wing Commander series, but this time in the ships we all wanted the Wing Commander ships to be in Star Wars ships. This was a game that came on a lot of floppies, but we didn't care.
Released in 1994, on the X-Wing Engine, the sequel to X-Wing was everything we wanted in an Empire based flight sims. Not only was the combat refined but this time we got a proper well thought out story with galactic subterfuge and intrigue. This also entry also figured Thrawn prominently who was sort of a hot commodity after the Timothy Zahn Heir to the Empire trilogy. Of note the game uses the fabled iMuse technology invented at LucasArts to trigger different musical and sound queues based on the action in the game. This made it one of the more immersive Star Wars experiences out there.
Like many of these games they are now easily picked up DRM free on GOG. No floppy drive necessary.
now that I have gotten the hang of this platform I want to go back and redo a bunch of my LucasArts posts. In case you just recently followed me I did a bunch of these pre-decemberish. Anyhow I just want to write some longer form stuff.
I Used To Do Photography
I used to do photography
when I was
younger,
thinking I'd
make a
job out of it.
But mostly now,
the photos I take
are from
the games I play.
When did
that
happen?
I used to do photography
my DSLR camera
gathers dust
in its case,
but that does
not mean
I have stopped
taking photos.
Looking with
a photographer's eye
I used to do photography
My subject changed,
I guess.
It's
harder
to go out into
the World,
when there
is so
much else
I need to do.
