People love to talk about the death of physical media, but honestly speaking? At least when it comes to movies and TV shows - I can't see that happening.
Like it's just the simple fact that there's always going to be both audio and video compression when using any streaming service and therefore the only way to get the best possible quality is by buying BDs.
Obviously I understand that for most people, the quality with streaming is good enough for them (and I'm not going to act like I don't watch stuff on streaming, I'm not subbed to any streaming services but I like to use free ones and I got a free sub to Peacock cuz I have Xfinity TV and internet) but there's always going to be that niche that wants the best possible audiovisual quality for what they want and, for that, they have to buy physical media and I can't imagine companies would want to give up a whole revenue stream like that. I can't predict the future, but I highly doubt 4K streams at the same bitrate of a 4K UHD BD with completely uncompressed audio will ever be a thing in the near future (I wouldn't be surprised if there's some super niche streaming service that already offers this, but I'm talking as a mainstream thing) And that's not even getting into people who might just want to own movies and TV shows they particularly like so they don't have to worry about it getting taken down from streaming services (or stuff that's just not available on streaming at all, for one reason or another).
Besides, y'all have been saying that physical releases of movies and TV shows are gonna die for years now and well they ain't dead yet. (Shit, even physical releases of music ain't dead yet either lol. It's getting more niche but you can still buy records and CDs at Walmart and Target just fine)
