I finally broke down and snagged a Roland JD-990 (cough like I knew I was eventually gonna do cough). It came today in one of the absolute worst packing jobs I've ever seen. I honestly thought this thing was gonna be in pieces when I opened the box. I recorded an unboxing video and will have that uploaded later, but I can share the photos of the condition of the unit. It's so damn minty it may as well have come from the original box! It also came with one of the JV expansion cards even though it was listed as coming with any. But not just any JV card, THEE JV card that any one ever seems to care about; the Vintage Synth card. That card alone goes for about 300 dollars these days. I talked this guy down a good bit on this synth just for starters (which is part of why I ended up buying it). Prices have become so overinflated recently it's hard finding deals on stuff in general. Factoring in the card makes this already great deal an absolute steal! I'm so excited to getting this puppy integrated into my studio setup!!!

particle effects inevitably get in the way of seeing what you need to see to play the game effectively, it ends up being very difficult if not impossible to tell what's in "the foreground" and thus vulnerable/dangerous versus what's in the background, it's just a bad idea
