I've been really excited for this anime to finally drop! Going forward, I'll be recapping each episode the week they air, alongside my thoughts and analysis. (I didn't really intend this one to end up double-barrelled, but there was a lot of groundwork to cover in EP 1.)

My current character, who is a prince had a secret affair with a courtier. Their affair was eventually exposed resulting in an immediate incarceration of two lovebirds. State religion considers cheating a criminal offence you see. It also condones human sacrifices, so both offenders were definitely shitting their pants. This happened just before my guy turned 26. And soon - while he was still in prison - all of his friends threw him a surprise birthday party. Chief among them was no other than his father and liege, the king. Aka the very same person who put him in a literal horny jail! When the party was over he simply pardoned my character. Didn't want anything in return. He even threw a line "I shall miss your company" or something like that when he set him free.

So, thanks dad for an unforgettable birthday party. What a prankster you are.
