this week I fell down a weird rabbit hole: calculator programming
I never had a programmable calculator in school, but I nonetheless have a bit of nostalgia from playing sokoban-style games on friend's calculators in math class when we were supposed to be doing problem sets >:P
so when I saw this casio calculator at goodwill a few months ago I decided to buy it, and I've been meaning to play with it, but didn't have a chance until this week. it turns out it's a ton of fun! I ended up writing a version of snake using the built-in programming language called CASIO BASIC. it's a quirky little language that's pretty different from standard BASIC and it's not super well-documented: finding tutorials means going to calculator enthusiast sites and forums from ~2009.
for more thoughts on CASIO BASIC programming and the full snake program source, read below the break :)

But they can sit on your lap and force you to become a contortionist to reach your keyboard.
Hello, I'm cat-sitting today :3c
