I've become the Pie Guy for all of my family's holiday events. I don't mind, because baking pies is fun and people usually think it's way harder than it actually is, so you get a great ratio of effort spent to people impressed.
This recipe is a brown butter pumpkin pie by Claire Saffitz (thank you Claire). I don't have any photos of making the brown butter because brown butter is basically a cooking quicktime event, where you watch a non-interactive cutscene for 5 minutes (melting the butter and cooking off the water) and then suddenly you see it starting to brown and you have at most 10 seconds to get that shit off of the heat before it all burns. I pressed square at the right time on this pie, so I'm really happy with the filling.
I also really like this philosophy I heard from another food youtuber, Adam Ragusea, which is basically that it doesn't really matter if your homemade food looks restaurant-perfect because it'll probably taste the same and takes waaay less effort. All hail the raggedy-edged, cracked pumpkin pie.
