On Cohost vector graphics are treated the same as raster graphics! (Thank you @staff)
You can make art in Inkscape or Illustrator, save a copy as a plain SVG (just to make sure editor specific extensions don't confuse people's web browsers), and post that without making a PNG or a JPEG first. The file size will almost always be smaller but no one can tell the difference without using the web inspector or trying to download the file. And if you're an artist that doesn't know how to make vector art but wants to, this is a great time and place to learn how.
