Lex Feathers
Musician and Sound Designer ๐ธ she/theyI'm a musician and creative from Toronto. I love making things with my hands, including scalemaille, furniture, and light fixtures. I'm enthusiastic about web design and code, though the latter is more an interest than something I am proficient in. ๐
TL;DR: trans lesbian who puts casters on everything.
Here is a little directory of Things I Do that you can experience:
Waxlimbs
This is the band / music-project I've been in for around 11 years now. It sounds like electronica with rock sprinkled in there, and more recently we've been kind of touching a slight metal angle.
We've released loads of music, and heavily incorporate the visual side of things into the project via live shows, 3D printing, and unified cover art concepts.
Check us out on Bandcamp, or our website :)
Game Audio
Since 2016, I've been working on music and sound design for indie games, mostly in Toronto's gamedev community.
Interactive audio has a special place in my heart, and scoring emotional games is one of those things I feel extremely lucky to be able to do.
You can find my work at Gameaudio.ca!
Solo music
Currently, I'm releasing aggressive electronic music under the name Void Femmes. This project is an outlet for me to make and release music as fast as possible, and to find joy in the process alone. It's very easy to wind up getting slowed by the pressure of some projects, sometimes!
I've also released a body of solo electronic music under a project that I've put to rest for the time being. I'm very proud of it, and believe that it represents what I was good at 3 years ago.
This project was ultimately about having fun in a creative space without any pressure; something I had been missing for years. I think I wrote some pretty fun music during this time period!
Nowadays I am mostly focused on Waxlimbs, but have ambitions to get back to releasing my own music eventually.
You can listen to my music on Bandcamp :)
ps: Here's the template I wrote for this post's formatting, so you can use it too! ๐บ
I want to re-share my intro for those who are just arriving :)
also because I updated the photo and I think I look hot
I often scroll Cohost on devices I can't edit the browsers on, and also because 'last week is as distant to me as the burning of Rome', I thought I'd start a series1 using running drafts I'll post (once the 'for the love of,, just post it and be free' kicks in) that are a speckled and incomplete list of things I've enjoyed2, so when it's actually live, it'll remind me/others of posts and resources/prompts3.

the ongoing-ness of this is very much dependent on my ability and wherewithal to continue with a project, given who I am as a person
-
realistically, these are the ones I find 'neat'4 that crucially, I find when I'm in a position to open up drafts & add here. (Relatedly, it's one of the ways I'd like to reduce the
-ification of my bookmark toolbar and tabs) -
as an aside to myself, I'm going to try and just get over myself and post this after it gets to a certain amount so I can try and deprogramme the anxiety/overthinking around curation headspace5
-
as the saying goes
-
by which I mean, it is folly to assume that any kind of round-up is definitive and completely impartial, such as it is, as [the poster] is choosing to signal-boost things, but my intentions are to make personal memos (that are public). I don't want to get into the headspace wherein I'm feeling like I need to 'process all the posts' into outputs, because that's neither sustainable nor fun. Related to that, this first one is from the time I started the draft - and so it's easy to read it as comprehensive of all time before, but.. let me emphatically say: it is not.
