tonight's movie was 1977's 2nd most popular movie, Smokey and the Bandit! and holy shit, was it good! i absolutely understand why this movie was so beloved when it came out and still is to this day, because this movie is so fucking fun to watch. there is a joyful, Looney Tunes-esque energy to everything that happens. Tex Avery couldn't do it any better. whether it's watching the Bandit (Burt Reynolds) outrun cops in the fastest, stylish way possible in his black and gold Trans Am, or watching the loud, red-faced Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) try in vain to chase down the Bandit, this is a movie that brings a smile to your face. The Bandit is also just so damn charming, with an earned swagger and laid back attitude to the whole thrill seeking, high paying adventure. and goddamn, this movie makes the Trans Am look like the fucking sickest car imaginable with how many amazing stunts it does! i guess when your director is a former stuntman (Hal Needham), your stunts are gonna look fuckin' incredible! Sally Fields puts in a super funny and charming performance as the runaway bride Carrie, and as history has shown, there is a ton of chemistry between her and Reynolds and the way they constantly riff on each other is just so fun to watch. and last but by no means least, Jerry Reed (who also sings the extremely catchy theme song that i'm listened to as i write this) plays Cledus "The Snowman" Snow, the driver of the 18-wheeler carrying that precious cargo of 400 cases of Coors to Atlanta. he's a super fun character who has a personality all of his own who is once again, just fun to watch. i know i keep saying fun but damnit, this movie is so fun! well, except for the confederate flag license plate the Bandit has and one instance of nearly saying a racial slur with the Sheriff (but he sucks anyway), but honestly that's it in terms of objectionable stuff in the movie. i think you could show this to kids and they would have a fantastic time! the movie also looks and sounds pretty damn good, with the feeling of sweltering humidity in the American South being quite prevalent across the entire movie, and every 'good' car and truck sounding so powerful and mean. side note, this movie is a hell of an ad for trucking in general! it's constantly showing how many friends the Bandit has in the field and how all of them are working together like a family to protect each other from the cops. it's honestly pretty great, and the one convoy scene is just so rad to watch. quick summary of the plot, a wealthy Texan businessman and his son (Pat McCormick and Paul Williams, respectively) are sponsoring a race in Atlanta and need someone to deliver the beer. The Snowman and The Bandit take the job for a cool $80k and head off to Texarkana to load up 400 cases of beer and haul ass to Atlanta in under 28 hours. of course, the police are none too happy about truckers hauling beer that is illegal to be sold outside Oklahoma, so they are in hot pursuit. trucker hijinks ensue. if you haven't watched Smokey and the Bandit before, i highly recommend it because it's just such a good time! and if you've seen it already, why not see it again for the first time?

The full list of games I have worked on is kind of long, but some of the better-known ones are Rivals of Aether, Samurai Gunn 2, Nuclear Throne, Forager, and the Nidhogg games.

I also make game assets, tools, mods, write tutorials, and occasionally draw doodles.

Having done my share of JS-less interfaces and various CSS crimes (e.g. pretty much everything on my blog works without JS), I find cohost's extended access to markdown and HTML/CSS very appealing.
