I will probably put some oil/wax on this and maybe a brown ink wash to bring out some of the detail on the feet and eyes, but it's done: my first completed woodcarving since ~2001.

one tablespoon, one teaspoon and one half-teaspoon volumes. unfortunately these were gifts and are not for sale. they are lovely little spoons though.
i have named it Leif. the material is black walnut, which is one of my favorite species. it began life as an offcut from a larger project. to make it sanitary for kitchen use, the knot is filled with resin, which is a hugely time-intrusive choice to make for a piece that's as small as this. but i loved the spoon enough to do it right. the finish, is, by the way, a food safe mineral oil.
