M-227, nicknamed Em-Two, was an ancient security droid owned by the pilot Sylvestri Yarrow during the High Republic Era, serving aboard Yarrow's starship, the cargo hauler Switchback. The droid was formerly owned by Yarrow's mother, Chancey, but was given to her after her mother was killed by Nihil raiders, by which time he was over two hundred years old. Several months later, the crew of the Switchback were forced to abandon the vessel after another Nihil attack.
Constructed at some point before the year 432 BBY, M-227 was operational into the time of the High Republic Era. The security droid was over two hundred years old by 232 BBY, at which point he was in the possession of Chancey Yarrow, owner of the cargo hauler Switchback. After Chancey Yarrow was killed when Nihil raiders boarded the hauler, her daughter, Sylvestri Yarrow, inherited both the Switchback and M-227. While Yarrow considered trading the droid away, she could not bring herself to sell M-227, viewing him as family. Yarrow continued to haul cargo aboard the Switchback, and M-227 served her alongside the co-pilot Neeto Janajana. Due to the rising costs associated with shipping and the threat posed by the Nihil, the crew of the Switchback were barely able to earn enough money to survive, owing numerous debts regardless of the profits they made.
While the Switchback was in transit—despite M-227 having planned a route that avoided sectors where the Nihil had been sighted—marauders pulled the hauler out of hyperspace, and its crew found that they had circled back into the system. M-227, who had been sitting in the co-pilot's seat, moved aside for Janajana to sit down, and Yarrow attempted to discern what had caused the issue. The crew realized what had happened when a number of Nihil vessels approached, but their attempt to make a hyperspace jump without a destination failed when their engine failed as a result of a faulty coaxium regulator.
Both M-227 and Janajana insisted that evacuating the ship was their only option for survival, while Yarrow refused to abandon the Switchback. As Janajana attempted to convince Yarrow to escape, citing the fact that they needed to inform the galaxy of the Nihil's ability to pull vessels from hyperspace, M-227 slowly moved toward the escape pod. Yarrow reluctantly agreed to evacuate, and the crew of the Switchback entered the escape pod, launching into space as the Nihil breached the airlock.
A security droid with masculine programming, M-227, nicknamed Em-Two, was aging by the time of the High Republic Era. His joints screeched of metal whenever he moved, and Yarrow often had to apply oil to them. M-227's voice was stilted due to his outdated speech box, which had not been updated for years. The droid's movements were slow, similar to those of an elderly being.
When Yarrow stressed over their financial situation, M-227 urged her not to worry. After the Switchback was attacked by the Nihil, M-227 calculated that evacuation would be the crew's best option, moving to the escape pod even before Yarrow had been persuaded to do so.
M-227 is a character who appeared in the novel The High Republic: Out of the Shadows, written by Justina Ireland and published on July 27, 2021. He was first revealed in an excerpt from Out of the Shadows in the novel The High Republic: Into the Dark on February 2, 2021.

Turk was the proper name of an Imperial stormtrooper stationed at an outpost on Krake's Planet. Turk had a close working relationship with another trooper named Grotto, but more often than not found himself telling his friend to "Shaddup". When Darth Vader learned that Luke Skywalker had infiltrated the base in order to steal vital information concerning the identity of an agent named Shira Brie, he ordered Turk and Grotto to seize him "dead or alive." Turk's unit found Skywalker downloading information from a databank in the kitchen area of the base and opened fire on him. Luke and his friend Chewbacca retaliated by attacking the troopers directly. Grotto opened fire on Skywalker, but Luke grabbed Turk and used him as a shield against Grotto's blaster fire, killing Turk.
The character of Turk was created by Marvel Comics writer, David Michelinie.
Turk and Grotto were lampoons of two other Michelinie characters. In the 1980s, the Marvel Comics series, Daredevil, regularly featured two incompetent snitches named Turk and Grotto who frequently found themselves staring into the business-end of Daredevil's billy-club. Like his Stormtrooper counterpart, Turk was often telling Grotto to "Shaddup".
Calder Brya was a male Human who lived on the planet Coruscant. His disarming, self-deprecating sense of humor made it easy for him to connect with people, even those who might otherwise dismiss him based on his upper-crust status.
Aside from being a rich socialite with a million credits in his account, Brya was also a fit and skilled shockball player, if not much of a fighter. He was also very well-connected with the highest levels of Coruscant society.
Hershel Sheridan was a male Human politician that lived on Corellia at the time of the Galactic Civil War.
Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Hershel ran for the office of mayor of the city of Kor Vella. His primary opponent during this election was Deel Draav. Both used foul tactics during the election, but in the end Sheridan lost the ballot, though not by much. According to CorSec officer Lon Cope, he took losing the election pretty badly.
In 1 ABY, Sheridan was killed by the Chirq Council, a powerful Corellia-based crime organization. He was shot in the head in his own house and a DL-44 blaster was put into his hand to make it look like he had taken his own life. The Chirq Council wanted to kill Mayor Draav and tried to make it look like Sheridian was the culprit. They left a scrap paper with his letterhead near a transmitter that had been used to relay threatening messages to Draav. An independent agent investigating the case for Lieutenant Cope found the paper and then discovered Sheridan's body with the blaster in his hand. Sheridan was thought to be the one responsible for the attempted murder and the case was closed.
However Draav was later killed in a second assassination attempt and the case was reopened. Upon re-examining the body, the agent discovered that the blaster didn't have a power cell in it. Further investigations showed that Sheridan was murdered by the Chirq Council and didn't kill Draav.
Hershel Sheridan was a non-player character (NPC) in Sony Online Entertainment's MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. was added to the game with the update named "Chapter 1: The Corellian Captives," published on June 8, 2006. His corpse could be found in his house in Kor Vella on Corellia. The player was asked by Lon Cope to investigate the attack on Deel Draav and during this quest discovered a scrap of paper in an abandoned bunker. The player then received a waypoint to Sheridan's house where the corpse was found. After Draav is murdered, the player had to examine the corpse a second time. This eventually lead to the discovery of the Chirq Council as well as several CorSec operations to eliminate the organization. These quests were part of the Legacy quest, the longest quest line in the game.
