A human male flew under the callsign "Phoenix One" four years before the Battle of Yavin. A member of Phoenix Squadron, a fleet composed of RZ-1 A-wing interceptors that operated under the command of Jun Sato, Phoenix One led the rest of the squadron during a mission to steal shield generators from the Galactic Empire. Phoenix One later participated in a dogfight with the Sith Lord Darth Vader which occurred during the Siege of Lothal. The Sith Lord dealt heavy damage to Sato's fleet, and Phoenix One's life was lost to Vader. After further fighting, Sato and the remainder of Phoenix Squadron escaped.

A human male was a member of Phoenix Squadron, a small fleet of RZ-1 A-wing interceptors under the leadership of Commander Jun Sato, four years before the Battle of Yavin. The squadron opposed the rule of the Galactic Empire, and joined a rebel network led by Imperial senator Bail Organa and ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano. The human pilot served Phoenix Squadron as Phoenix One.

Shortly before the Empire laid siege to the planet Lothal, Phoenix One participated in a mission to steal Imperial shield generators alongside by the starship Ghost and its crew, led by Captain Hera Syndulla. A CR90 corvette commanded by Sato was also present for the mission. Although Syndulla's co-pilot and gunner Kanan Jarrus felt discontented with working alongside a formal military unit such as Phoenix Squadron, the other members of the Ghost crew were accepting of the help. Encountering Imperial Gozanti-class cruisers in space, Phoenix Squadron and the Ghost battled the Imperial TIE/ln space superiority starfighter defenders. Phoenix One, alongside a pilot flying under the callsign Phoenix Two, made short work of several TIE fighters docked on the cruisers at the request of Captain Syndulla. With the remaining TIE fighters on the run, Phoenix One declared that the Ghost was clear to proceed.

Sabine Wren, piloting the Ghost detachable shuttle, the Phantom, liberated on the Gozanti cruisers of its cargo. However, two Imperial Arquitens-class light cruisers arrived to support the cargo ships, thus strangulating the rebel force. Phoenix One was set upon by fresh TIE fighters, but Wren was able to destroy one of them, easing Phoenix One's load. Sato's corvette received the brunt of the light-cruisers' attacks, and Sato began to order a retreat. However, the Ghost first grabbed the supplies that they had come for.

Phoenix Squadron made the jump to lightspeed, leaving Wren to dock the Phantom with the Ghost before they too left the Imperials behind. However, the supplies was revealed to not contain any shield generators as hoped.

Sometime later, the rebels learned of the Empire's blockade over Lothal. The crew of the Ghost sneaked through the blockade in an attempt to rescue an Imperial defector, but the mission turned disasterous when the defector was killed, which was followed by the appearance of the Sith Lord and Imperial enforcer Darth Vader. The crew escaped back to the Phoenix fleet, but were followed by Vader in his personal TIE Advanced x1 starfighter. Phoenix One led the other Phoenix pilots into battle against the solitary attacker, but were no match for Vader's superior piloting skills. Phoenix One and several other pilots, including Phoenix Two, lost their lives to the Sith Lord, who then destroyed Sato's command ship, Phoenix Home.

After a difficult fight with Vader's reinforcements, the rebels eventually escaped the Empire one more time.

Phoenix One was a human male with light-colored skin.

While piloting his A-Wing, Phoenix One wore a red jumpsuit and a beige helmet. His A-Wing had blue markings across it. Later he had green and yellow markings.

"Phoenix One" first appeared in the Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal, the television movie that acted as the season two premiere of the Star Wars Rebels television series. Phoenix One's voice was provided by Matthew Wood.

Roland Warren was an agent of the Rebel Alliance. Warren was the son of Morellian scoutmaster Barosa Warren and an unidentified mother. He was on bad terms with his father, especially since Roland joined the Rebel Alliance, opposing Barosa's wishes.

Roland Warren's siblings were Tole Warren, Alton Lochner, and Danlea Lochner (Alton and Danlea changed their names). All of them were half-Morellian and probably came from different mothers, and all of them joined the Rebel Alliance. As of 2 ABY, Roland Warren was an undercover contact for the Rebel Alliance in the Simik system.

Karka Kre'fey was a Bothan male who was the grandson of New Republic General Laryn Kre'fey. In 6 ABY, the Kre'fey family reputation was strongly damaged after Laryn Kre'fey's death at the First Battle of Borleias, a devastating loss for the New Republic attributed to the general's errors. Karka Kre'fey adamantly denied the allegations of his grandfather's mistakes, which he felt sullied his family's honor. During a party hosted by the Bothan Liska Dan'kre at a skyhook above the planet Coruscant in 7 ABY, Kre'fey confronted Rogue Squadron pilot Gavin Darklighter over his opinion on his grandfather's mistakes. Kre'fey challenged Darklighter to a duel, which the pilot refused to accept.

A Bothan male of the Kre'fey family, Karka Kre'fey was part of a long line of Bothan leaders that included his grandfather, New Republic General Laryn Kre'fey—the Bothans' most celebrated military leader at the time—and his brother, eventual Admiral Traest Kre'fey. In 6 ABY, Laryn Kre'fey planned and orchestrated the first battle of Borleias, a New Republic effort to capture the planet Borleias. The general died in the battle, which proved to be an overwhelming loss for the New Republic forces partly attributed to Laryn's poor planning and decisions, and the Kre'fey family reputation suffered as a result. Kre'fey disbelieved the allegations against his grandfather, which he felt besmirched the general's honor and his family name.

In 7 ABY, Kre'fey attended a lavish party on a skyhook above the planet Coruscant hosted by the wealthy Bothan Liska Dan'kre, the guests of which were mostly members of the same species. During the party, Kre'fey and two Bothan subordinates approached the human Rogue Squadron pilot Gavin Darklighter, who had been present at Borleias. Confronting Darklighter, Kre'fey introduced himself and asked whether the pilot agreed with the claims about his grandfather's alleged mistakes during the battle. When Darklighter responded affirmatively, Kre'fey slapped him across the left cheek without warning, catching the pilot off-guard and nearly knocking him down.

Darklighter told the Bothan he understood being upset over his grandfather's death, but Kre'fey instead accused the pilot of sullying the honor of his grandfather and family. Despite Darklighter's lack of interest in an altercation and an attempted intervention by the diplomat Herrit Gordon, Kre'fey challenged the pilot to a duel. Darklighter, inwardly citing a new sense of discipline he had learned from his squadron and knowing that ignoring Kre'fey's taunts would hurt the Bothan more than physical damage, refused to fight—which was ultimately fortunate for Kre'fey.

The Bothan accused Darklighter of cowardice, but the pilot claimed that Kre'fey was not his enemy; Darklighter noted that Kre'fey honored his grandfather more in continuing his crusade rather than hiding his mistakes. Darklighter offered a handshake to Kre'fey, but the Bothan rejected the gesture and walked away, followed by his subordinates. After Kre'fey had departed, Gordon complimented Darklighter for his handling of the confrontation. When later speaking to Asyr Sei'lar, Bothan Rogue Squadron pilot and Darklighter's lover, the Bothan Councilor Borsk Fey'lya recognized the defusing of the "Kre'fey problem" as an example of Darklighter's ability to handle himself. In 25 ABY, when speaking with Admiral Traest Kre'fey, Darklighter mentally noted his resemblance to Karka and his grandfather.

Karka Kre'fey possessed creamy white fur and golden eyes typical of members of the Kre'fey family, bearing a striking resemblance to both his brother and grandfather. He stood as tall as Gavin Darklighter at 1.8 meters, though did not possess the same bulk as the pilot.

Like many Bothans, Karka Kre'fey possessed a strong sense of pride. He felt that the reports of Laryn Kre'fey's failure at Borleias brought shame onto his family, and was so adamant about defending his family's honor that he provoked a confrontation with Darklighter over the matter. Kre'fey was irate when approaching Darklighter and was upset by what he perceived to be the pilot's sullying of his grandfather's honor. The Bothan attacked Darklighter without warning and was determined to challenge him to a duel, believing the pilot to be a coward when he declined to fight. When Darklighter extended his hand to Kre'fey, the Bothan did not take it, instead snarling and departing.

Kre'fey wore a black uniform that contrasted with his fur and eyes.

Karka Kre'fey first appeared in the 1996 novel X-Wing: The Krytos Trap, written by Michael A. Stackpole.
