Santa Claus was a human toy maker. Every year, Santa would deliver presents across the galaxy in one night by traveling in his sleigh that was pulled by the Hoth-native species, tauntauns for the holiday of Sithmas. Santa once had to use a different route to enter the second Death Star superweapon instead of a chimney since the superweapon didn't have one. Santa also once delivered presents to young siblings Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa which included a purple bike for Organa and a lightsaber training drone for Skywalker.

Santa Claus was a toy maker who delivered presents across the galaxy for the annual holiday of Sithmas in one night. Santa was able to deliver all of the presents in one night due to his semi-sentient reptomammal tauntauns that pull his sleigh to travel .5 past lightspeed. Santa would enter people's homes to deliver the presents through their chimney, but since the second Death Star battle station didn't have a chimney, Santa had to enter through a small thermal exhaust port.

At one point, a young Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa sat on Santa's lap and told him what presents they wanted for Sithmas. At another point, on the remote swamp planet Dagobah, Skywalker went to the alien Jedi Master Yoda to seek out a great toy maker, which then Yoda told him to seek Santa Claus. On Sithmas, Skywalker and Organa both received presents from Santa, with Organa receiving an unassembled purple bike and Skywalker receiving a lightsaber training drone that didn't come with power cells. During the winter season of Sithmas, people donned a similar hat to the red-and-white one of Santa's.

Santa Claus was a light-skinned, white-bearded human with black eyes and white-gray colored hair. Santa was deemed a great toy maker by the young Luke Skywalker and Yoda. Sometimes, Santa would be forgetful when making toys and presents.

Santa dressed in a red-and-white outfit consisting of black boots, black belt, and a hat.

Santa Claus first appeared in the 2021 non-canon holiday-themed young-reader's novel, A Vader Family Sithmas, written and illustrated by Jeffrey Brown. Prior to the release of the book, Santa Claus was first mentioned in an episode of the This Week! in Star Wars YouTube show which was released on February 25, 2021 to promote the book's release. Numerous LEGO sets in the "Star Wars Advent Calendar" line contain minifigures of Star Wars characters dressed as Santa including the droids C-3PO, BB-8, D-O, gonk droid, pit droid, and the bird species of porg. In the 2022 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, entering the codes "C3PHOHO" and "TIPYIPS" upon the menu bar unlocks holiday-themed variations of C-3PO and D-O donning similar outfits of Santa's, including his famous red-and-white hat.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Santa Claus first appeared in the non-canon Christmas album Christmas in the Stars, featuring Star Wars–themed Christmas songs produced in 1980 by RSO Records. He then made his first canonical Star Wars Legends mention in Star Wars Word Puzzles, a puzzle book written by Linda Quinton in 1984. Santa Claus in real life is a legendary Christmas figure, said to deliver presents to "nice" children and coal to "naughty" children on Christmas Eve.
