Santa Claus was a human toy maker. Every year, Santa would deliver presents across the galaxy in one night by traveling in his sleigh that was pulled by the Hoth-native species, tauntauns for the holiday of Sithmas. Santa once had to use a different route to enter the second Death Star superweapon instead of a chimney since the superweapon didn't have one. Santa also once delivered presents to young siblings Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa which included a purple bike for Organa and a lightsaber training drone for Skywalker.

Santa Claus was a toy maker who delivered presents across the galaxy for the annual holiday of Sithmas in one night. Santa was able to deliver all of the presents in one night due to his semi-sentient reptomammal tauntauns that pull his sleigh to travel .5 past lightspeed. Santa would enter people's homes to deliver the presents through their chimney, but since the second Death Star battle station didn't have a chimney, Santa had to enter through a small thermal exhaust port.

At one point, a young Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa sat on Santa's lap and told him what presents they wanted for Sithmas. At another point, on the remote swamp planet Dagobah, Skywalker went to the alien Jedi Master Yoda to seek out a great toy maker, which then Yoda told him to seek Santa Claus. On Sithmas, Skywalker and Organa both received presents from Santa, with Organa receiving an unassembled purple bike and Skywalker receiving a lightsaber training drone that didn't come with power cells. During the winter season of Sithmas, people donned a similar hat to the red-and-white one of Santa's.

Santa Claus was a light-skinned, white-bearded human with black eyes and white-gray colored hair. Santa was deemed a great toy maker by the young Luke Skywalker and Yoda. Sometimes, Santa would be forgetful when making toys and presents.

Santa Claus first appeared in the 2021 non-canon holiday-themed young-reader's novel, A Vader Family Sithmas, written and illustrated by Jeffrey Brown. Prior to the release of the book, Santa Claus was first mentioned in an episode of the This Week! in Star Wars YouTube show which was released on February 25, 2021 to promote the book's release. Numerous LEGO sets in the "Star Wars Advent Calendar" line contain minifigures of Star Wars characters dressed as Santa including the droids C-3PO, BB-8, D-O, gonk droid, pit droid, and the bird species of porg. In the 2022 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, entering the codes "C3PHOHO" and "TIPYIPS" upon the menu bar unlocks holiday-themed variations of C-3PO and D-O donning similar outfits of Santa's, including his famous red-and-white hat.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Santa Claus first appeared in the non-canon Christmas album Christmas in the Stars, featuring Star Wars–themed Christmas songs produced in 1980 by RSO Records. He then made his first canonical Star Wars Legends mention in Star Wars Word Puzzles, a puzzle book written by Linda Quinton in 1984. Santa Claus in real life is a legendary Christmas figure, said to deliver presents to "nice" children and coal to "naughty" children on Christmas Eve.

Thaya Ferr was a human female member of the Nihil who served as an assistant to the pirate organization's leader, Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro. When Ro planned diversionary attacks on Aleen, Japeal, Yeksom, and Tais Brabbo to lure the Jedi away from the Starlight Beacon space station, Ferr reported to him about the progress of his plot to destroy Starlight Beacon. While she did not have the near-religious level of reverence for Ro most Nihil held towards the Eye, she obeyed his commands without question. She had decided she was not fit for leadership but could work well as Ro's most efficient follower, which the Eye did take notice of.

On the Gaze Electric, Ferr was tasked with giving transfer orders to various Nihil. Returning to the bridge, she talked to Ro about the Jedi's attempt to capture Lourna Dee. After delivering more transfer orders, she discussed the moves with Ro. She had sent Roborhyan to the Spectre who had a captain that held a grudge against him. She also ordered the Janikki clan to coordinate efforts in the Ishbix system where they were wanted for crimes. She explained to Ro that these moves would help weaken any rivals in the Nihil. After Ro dispatched a crew to sabotage Starlight Beacon, Ferr contemplated her position in the Nihil. She realized that she had no ambitions to lead, wanting only to follow and help Ro as a second-in-command. She arranged for a shipment of enforcer droids to be delivered to the Gaze Electric as a replacement for the living crewmembers who had been transferred off the ship.

Ferr continued to activate the droids who would crew the ship but was surprised by a small ship requesting permission to dock. Ro informed her it was Ghirra Starros who was coming to join him. Ferr realized that Ro had seduced her into betraying the Republic and was impressed. She arranged for Starros to take over Alfkenda's quarters. After the sabotage of Starlight Beacon, Ferr was instructed by Ro to monitor a comm channel to get news about the situation. She reported the distress call sent from Starlight Beacon after the separation and destruction of the top half of the station. As the situation above Eiram was broadcast across the holonet, Ro ordered Ferr to let the rest of the Nihil know that he was responsible for it. He also ordered her to tell them not to come to Eiram and disrupt his plans. Ferr watched as Starlight Beacon crashed onto Eiram, and stated that there was some symbolism to the Republic's grand project crashing on a non-descript planet. Ro agreed and ordered her to bring up the planet's holonews to they could watch the final destruction of the station.

After the crash, Ferr arranged for a celebration in a system far from the Republic's control so the Nihil could enjoy the victory. Later, she sliced into communication buoys and let Ro broadcast his ultimatum on the same frequencies once used by Starlight Beacon.

Thaya Ferr first appeared in the 2022 novel The High Republic: The Fallen Star, written by Claudia Gray as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I. The character was later depicted for the first time in the eighth issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao, and published by Dark Horse Comics as part of the multimedia project's Phase III on August 7, 2024.
