Nell Davengatt was a female Human who was the daughter of Jaffro Davengatt, the owner of Davengatt's Double-Zed Nerf Ranch on the planet Engebo V. After her father became reclusive, Nell was forced to take over the day-to-day running of his business, a job that she disliked.

Quat Ralto was the first officer and security chief of the Bright Seeker mining survey ship. He was a stern, competent man with a strict honor code. Although he was a member of a House Calipsa crew he made a point of treating all aboard the ship with respect.
