"have a bad day and go fuck yourself"
#how about you rationally debate my sword
I thought it was very good!
In terms of design, it's very much a narrative/character experience - the RPG elements are there to provide a backdrop and structure and ask some amount of participation from the player, but they are very mechanically light and in my experience, never presented an actual barrier to progression. There are a few places where I think the gameplay structure of turn based RPG battles causes some friction with the narrative, but I think it's basically fine.
It's much more interested in being a narrative experience that wears its messages on its sleeve - to its benefit, in my opinion. The game does not leave a lot of room for doubt about where it stands in terms of being critical of power structures on a personal and a societal level.
The spritework is very cute! The music is great! It has a fishing minigame! The main cast is very queer!
I enjoyed its themes about, as mentioned, being critical of power structures, explicitly framing America as a fascist state, the self-destructive and self-perpetuating nature of violence, and that seeking to cause harm as a means to an end or for personal catharsis only feeds this cycle.
There's a magazine with hot mice in it.
You get to call a nazi a twat and tell him to fuck off forever!
It's pretty cool.
