I feel like I fundamentally don't "get" Metroidvanias, even when I enjoy them. Whenever I do enjoy one, I'm like "wow, I sure like the combat and boss fights and traversing some areas and unlocking new abilities in this. it's too bad I have to get Fucking Lost in between all that stuff." It's like I enjoyed them despite them being search action games, rather than because of it.

I dunno maybe I'm stupid.
