man that post by @kayin about it being good to make stuff for yourself but not for yourself for others has me fucked up bc for months i've been stuck not working on any ttrpg writing stuff... my plan was to pitch my friends on a few of the games i'm working on to see which of them (if any) they were interested in to give me some direction on which one to focus on... because i'm terrified of making something that no one wants to play. but also my true creative impulse has never been about that... it's more like i just have an idea that catches, and i take joy in working it over until it's something i can play with. i make stuff for me, without a doubt, but also there's a vulnerability in that because i'm terrified of my work (and by extention myself) being rejected or (maybe worse) ignored... but maybe it's wrong to hold myself back out of fear like that. maybe i should just make what i wanna make and if no one else likes it at least its for me i guess. but on the other hand there's nothing wrong with making something true and wanting your work to connect with other people and hoping others can find some enjoyment or interest in it, right? idk this is hard my brain hurts
