Have you spoken to like Any white academic, because ??????
2. Absolves you of responsibility, because believing that there is some specific difference between you and them (that you are smart and they are not; that you pay attention and they do not; that you are educated and they are not) means you do not recognize your capacity to be like them. you can't just say I'm Not Like Them, Don't Group Me In With Them! (looking at you, cohost dot org), not-being-like-them is a continuous process of self-reflection, change, and action and ANYONE, INCLUDING ME AND YOU, including us with degrees and a library of theory under our belts, can easily become part of the problem. if we aren't already part of it.
