been thinking on and off about posting a long ramble about just how bad twitter's current advertiser situation is but, all i need to say is it's bad. it's really bad, y'all. and that's really really funny

essentially, in my personal experience anyways, there are only 3 different advertisements left on the platform. one is for an external crypto platform (which is probably bleeding money itself), another is for that "buy digital land in the metaverse" company (which is probably bleeding even more money) and the final one is a literal fake mobile game ad. twitter has become the social media equivalent of a free to play mobile game that plays ads after every level and should probably constitute as malware

#vi posts#what this tells me is that elongated muskrat's desperate attempts to win back actual paying advertisers have proven fruitless and the site is probably running on fumes to a far greater extent than what most folks already assume#of course there are also still promoted tweets (that just get categorized as "ads" in a dryly humourous cutting of the bullshit)#but they still differ in the sense that i can block the account promoting itself (for now) and the money they're giving the site is most definitely drops in the bucket compared to the Big Ones#also i've noticed a sharp decline in. actual products being marketed and more just. right wingers/generally weird people giving their inane ramblings a tiny soapbox and what i genuinely believe can only be AI generated bot tweets#also temu is still there. temu has become something of a tumor that's attached itself to twitter
