#information warfare

see the thing about living in an environment of constant and ubiquitous information warfare (as the tactics start being used by more and more people, as they see it working, even if they don't realize that's what they're doing) is that user data, especially for AI, is not just making their products "more natural sounding", but will be used to target things to you specifically, or your circles, in an automated manner.

Polarization by default, elections where it's even more about what you see instead of the actual candidates, every information source becoming MSNBC in nature.

I've been chewing a lot on ideas about logistics/connective-tissue/mycelium of the way movements form and roll and crest and crash and recede and repeat.

And I've been chewing on both of these for a few weeks for the jon-e one, and a few months for the cop city one.

The parts of these I think matter have little to do with their titles or their themes, but their tactics, framing, reasoning, and context.

If I have time, I'll write down my thoughts. For now, I'm making you aware they exist, and hope you can also see the common threads.

Feel free to use the comments to discuss, if you reply in a share, please add it to the comments of the main thread so others can benefit by seeing it in all the branch posts along with if they only have the link to the OP.

Denazification following WW2 was a failure. In many ways, the U.S. and its allies which would go on to form NATO to oppose the USSR would quickly dust off German officers, generals, and scientists so-as to pick them up and use them against the Communist Russian lead counter-axis.

I describe a lot of human politics with this idea of Axis / Counter-Axis, I'll go into what that means, and how it is directly utilized by political actors to rationalize all kinds of bullshit. Then I'll get into more specifics regarding disinformation promoted by the Russian State, and after that, some general thoughts on how this has become a source of sour tension between myself and a friend of mine who has a very fucking stupid perspective on the war.
