so, the other day i was listening to a podcast where someone with ADHD was talking about their experiences and the book they'd written
they mentioned using workflowy for time blocking and task management, areas i historically struggle with
and a look at workflowy's site confirms why i will probably never use it
i want my most important data to be local, synced the way i want it, and preferably easy to crack into if i absolutely have to
not on a cloud service where they can implement limiting the number of bullet points you can create in a PKM app?
(and the mentioned dropbox backups are in a proprietary format just for an additional kicker)
like, i'm worried about the local only version of YNAB going away, but it's the same thing; why would i want some random company to so easily have our financial history including detailed notes on what transactions were for, or the categories we've used for them, that could very easily at some point go under or be compromised and would offer zero of the same protections that our bank would in either of those scenarios.
(with that said, i'm still reliant on onedrive and icloud for syncing these local files around - but i at least trust ms and apple slightly more when it comes to things like not leaving an unsecure cloud bucket full of customer data open to the world)
